Bell palsy, also termed idiopathic facial paralysis (IFP), is the most common cause of unilateral facial paralysis and the most common cause of facial paralysis worldwide. Bell’s palsy is a sudden or rapid onset facial paralysis or weakness which develops over hours to a day or two. There’s no test that can tell you for sure if you have Bell’s palsy.
